A Tree's Swing

There once was a lake
With a happy smiling tree
With a single swing
What would sway in the breeze

A simplicity to happiness
And legacy to love
The swing would hold strongly
Every pull and tug.

How hard it must have been
For the limb of that tree
To hold such a burden
So very thoughtfully

But it flew, surely strong
From the apex, and summit
Through the depression swung
To the highest rung in succession.

The wind would caress that swing
From the beginning motion
Through the breeze singing
To the very end .

And then it would sway and stop
Eventually ending completely
And the lake would wink
To that sturdily standing tree.

As the love and happiness left
And headed towards the lake
Leaving a swing dangling
Still hanging for their sake.

And into the shimmering waters
With some wonderful memories
Two images left as lovers
In this story told for centuries.
