I Once Was Home

I once was home
Alone with myself
Thinking to me
This is all right.
I needed none
As none needed me.
Till I left and realized
What it was I hadn’t seen.
A spark lit, friendship cast
Forged fast, cured last
While home and happy
I was living finally
Till I left again.
Loneliness again began
But misguided truth was lost
Vulnerable I became
And knowing, I was never to be the same.

I once was home again
Shortly, a time so sweet
Furnace rekindled, only to cool.
Once again I left
To a new home alone
With only sparks of memory
To remember friendships grown.
