The heartbeat
The steady rythmic sound
As it pumps life
Through you.
As the emotion changes
The sound becomes fierce
Or it subsides to a whisper.
As the body
Works harder
THe heart pumps louder
Yet it is unheard.
As it pumps louder
Breathing becomes harder
And at times
It seems to peirce
As it’s strength ranges
Or it slows again
To a whisper.
And the only one
Who hears it is you.
And you fine comfort
In the steady rythmic sound.
